Dr Patricia Montanaro - GP
MBBS, FRACGP
Dr Montanaro is a very experienced and dedicated general practitioner who believes in achieving good patient health outcomes with compassion and a familiar, friendly face. She has been a proud GP for over 30 years and has cared for many extended families across four generations. She has a breadth of experience across all areas of general practice — from paediatrics to palliative care, acute to chronic conditions — with a particular focus on preventive care. She is also trusted by other doctors to manage their health. Because balancing urgent problems, routine health needs and running on time is always complex, Dr Montanaro prefers that a single issue be brought to each appointment. Further needs can be noted and coordinated through follow-up appointments, which can often be arranged by telephone. She also uses Narrative Therapy to facilitate changes in behaviour. Before specialising in general practice, Dr Montanaro trained extensively in both hospital and community health. She has owned and managed her own medical practice and has been recognised with many accolades across her broad roles in teaching, examining, research, advocacy and board work. These include serving as President of AMASA, Honorary Secretary and Faculty Board Member of RACGP SA, and she is currently on the Palliative Care Board SA and the Medical Benevolent Association SA.
